Stop Making Excuses, And Just Connect!
I remember growing up in the 90’s thinking how advanced technology was because there were so many ways to connect with people.
Colored TVs with the antenna...
House phones, payphones, and beepers...
"Fat-back" computers with the tower on the side, and keyboards that connected with an actual wire -- the technical options were endless!
I don’t know about you guys, but in my Caribbean household, we even took it a step further! We didn't have a fat-back computer, but whenever we wanted to send a message to someone overseas for the low low (instead of buying expensive calling cards), we would record it over a cassette tape and mail it out to whom we wanted to send the message to. It was our own definition of "voicemails". I remember thinking, "It can’t get any better than this!"
Fast-forward to today -- March 2022.
We are literally becoming more technically advanced by the day! There are so many ways to get connected & stay connected. Everything is at our fingertips: social media, the internet, video calls -- It’s impossible to not stay connected. Matter of fact, if you’re not connected, it was a choice you’ve made because you didn't want to, not because you couldn't. The world has made it so easy to not lose track of anyone or anything.
Ok, Dwi, How is this relevant? How are you making this relevant to my spiritual life?
The Holy Spirit, and the Word of God, are our ways to getting connected & staying connected with Our Father in Heaven. You have so many ways to practically connect: prayer (having a conversation with God directly), worshiping through singing a song, listening to the K-Love radio station, venting to Him by writing in a journal, dancing to your favorite praise song, using your talent to honor God in some way — the list goes on and on. Yet, with all of these ways to stay connected, we find ourselves "too busy" line.
If you wanted to call someone but didn’t dial their full number, would the call go through? NOPE
If you wanted to send an important email but didn’t type in the recipient's email address, would the message go through? NOPE
If you wanted to watch your favorite show but didn’t tune in online or turn to the channel it’s on, how do you expect to access it?
If you wanted to get someone's attention near you but didn’t reach out far enough to actually touch them to get their attention, how do you expect them to turn around?
If you want to “feel the Spirit”, and see God's hand in your life in a real way, but don’t reach out far enough to connect with Him, how do you expect to touch Him? To feel His presence?
We are so quick to text our friends, and call our parents but are “too busy” for prayer time to call out to Him. Our favorite show on TV lasts for an hour, but our alone time with God barely lasts for 20 whole minutes.
Enough is enough. The Wi-Fi Ain’t Down -- our commitment is! Let’s stop making connection excuses, and just start making that connection. Whether you're a baby Christian using a TV-with-an-antenna, or a spiritually advanced Christian speaking in tongues - JUST CONNECT!
While you’re at it, make sure you tune into our Live Stream tonight at 8 PM for a powerful Word from Pastor Paul! His Wi-Fi connection with God is STRONG! How strong is yours?
